Refresher A - Airway
The NJ EMT Refresher - Airway Management course is designed to provide EMTs with a comprehensive review of airway management skills and techniques. The course focuses on the assessment and management of airway obstruction, as well as the use of airway devices.
During the course, students will review the anatomy and physiology of the airway, including the structures and functions of the upper and lower airway. Students will also learn how to assess a patient's airway and breathing, and how to recognize signs of airway obstruction.
The course will cover various airway management techniques, including manual maneuvers such as the head-tilt/chin-lift and jaw-thrust maneuvers, as well as the use of adjuncts such as oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airways.
Refresher B - Medical
The NJ EMT Refresher B - Medical course is designed to provide EMTs with a comprehensive review of medical assessments, treatments, and management of various medical conditions. The course focuses on common medical emergencies that EMTs may encounter in the field.
During the course, students will review the anatomy and physiology of various body systems and how they relate to medical emergencies. The course will cover various medical conditions, such as cardiovascular emergencies, respiratory emergencies, diabetic emergencies, seizures, allergic reactions, and many others.
Students will learn how to assess and manage medical emergencies effectively, including techniques for obtaining a detailed medical history and conducting a thorough physical exam. Students will also learn about common treatments and medications used in the field, such as oxygen therapy, epinephrine, nitroglycerin, and aspirin.
The course will also cover the latest protocols and guidelines for the management of medical emergencies, including updates to the latest CPR and defibrillation techniques. Students will learn about the importance of communication and teamwork in medical emergencies, as well as the role of EMTs in coordinating patient care with other healthcare providers.
Refresher C - Trauma
The NJ EMT Refresher - Trauma course is designed to provide EMTs with a comprehensive review of trauma assessment, treatment, and management of various traumatic injuries. The course focuses on common traumatic emergencies that EMTs may encounter in the field.
During the course, students will review the anatomy and physiology of various body systems and how they relate to traumatic injuries. The course will cover various types of traumatic injuries, such as head injuries, spinal injuries, fractures, burns, and many others.
Students will learn how to assess and manage traumatic injuries effectively, including techniques for obtaining a detailed trauma history and conducting a thorough physical exam. Students will also learn about common treatments used in the field, such as wound care.
