Public Safety Training of South Jersey is offering a scholarship to students that wish to attend our Emergency Medical Technician course this summer

Overall employment of EMTs and paramedics is projected to grow 7 percent from 2023 to 2033, about as fast as the average for all occupations. About 20,000 openings for EMTs and paramedics are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Becoming an EMT is not only it's own career, it is also a stepping stone for many other careers such as paramedic, nurse, physicians assistant, and even doctors. If you are considering any of these positions, starting as an EMT will help you see and treat patients first hand when they call 9-1-1 for an emergency.

The course schedule for this Summer EMT class is as follows:

Beginning June 16th, 2023

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30AM to 4:30PM

Ending August 11th, 2023

 

In this course you will

• learn about the history of EMS
• How to assess patients experiencing a variety of complaints such as cardiac issues, respiratory distress, and traumatic injuries
• Complete online course work that coincides with in-person lecture reviews and hands-on skills practice
• Complete clinical time on an ambulance and in a hospital emergency room to view the different perspectives in the medical field

Upon completion you will

• Be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination
• Upon completion of the exam, be issued an NJ EMT certification to treat and transport patients
• Have the ability to practice in all states that allow reciprocity with the NREMT certification

 

Students that are interested in the scholarship and are currently in high school or college may receive up to $1,800* towards the tuition of the course
