Description

AHA PALS focuses on pediatric assessment, recognition of respiratory and shock emergencies, cardiac arrest response, and team-based pediatric resuscitation.

Who it is meant for

Healthcare providers who respond to pediatric emergencies involving infants and children in hospital, EMS, or other clinical settings.

Prerequisites

Students should have current provider-level CPR/BLS skills and the clinical background needed for pediatric advanced life support content.

AHA PALS

Pediatric advanced life support for emergency care teams.

PALS is intended for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children, including assessment, stabilization, and resuscitation priorities.

  • Pediatric assessment and emergency recognition concepts
  • Respiratory, shock, and cardiac arrest response priorities
  • Team-based pediatric resuscitation practice
  • Classroom and HeartCode PALS hands-on skills session pathways when scheduled

Course formats

Students may take a PALS classroom course or complete HeartCode PALS online before attending an in-person hands-on skills session.

Completion card

Students who complete all PALS course requirements receive an AHA Provider Course Completion Card valid for two years.

Continuing education

CE/CME credit availability depends on the pediatric course option and the student profession.
